FOL-EVENT:  Fiber Optic Event Module

About Product

The FOL-EVENT Fiber Optic Event Module is an educational training platform designed for studying fiber optic networks, event detection, and optical signal transmission. It enables hands-on experiments using OTDR to analyze fiber link lengths, splice losses, connectors, and faults. The module supports practical learning in fiber optic testing, troubleshooting, and network performance measurement.

1) The Fiber Optic Event Module is mounted on a Sturdy Aluminium Casing containing three Test Singlemode Optical Fiber Network suitable for uni & bi-directional interrogation. The network include various elements such as Fiber splices, splitters and attenuators. This units can be coupled with a professional OTDR for Event identification and location, Line, components, splice measurements, analysis of network with deliberately introduced faults.

2) This module is specifically developed for academic laboratories, training institutes, and skill-development programs to help students and engineers understand the practical aspects of OTDR operation, event detection, and loss measurement.

3) The module supports testing at standard telecommunication wavelengths (1310 nm and 1550 nm).

1) Fiber-1
i) Length of Fiber : 100 meter
ii) Fiber : 9/125 μm Singlemode, Glass Fiber

2) Fiber-2
i) Length of Fiber : 500 meter
ii) Fiber : 9/125 μm Singlemode, Glass Fiber

3) Fiber-3
i) Length of Fiber : 1000 meter
ii) Fiber : 9/125 μm Singlemode, Glass Fiber

4) Optical Splitter (SMF)
i) Splitter type : 1:4 Splitter (1 I/P & 4 O/P)
Connector : SC-PC Type

5) Optical Attenuator (SMF)
i) Attenuation : 10 dB
ii) Connector : SC-PC Type

6) Splicing (SMF)
i) Type : Fusion Splicing
‍
1) Determination of event location and fiber link lengths.

2) Determination and measurement of Rayleigh scattering losses along a fiber link and fresnel end reflections at 1310 and 1550nm.

3) Measurement of fiber connector and standard splice losses.

4) Fault location and analysis of series of networks with deliberately introduced faults.

Note: OTDR is needed for perform the above experiments.
